Notes from this episode:

God tells us clearly what love is.  All the worldly glory or amazing gifts or talents, all the wealth career achievements mean nothing if we have not loved.

As women, we are naturally inclined to relationships and the giving and receiving of love.

But in the thick of the day to day, we forget.

We lose perspective and we often fall into the trap of thinking we’re not really offering much to the world.

New Moms/Seasoned Moms

So, this episode is dedicated to all you older women who have loved to the point of the cross, and to you younger moms who are just beginning the journey.

It is hard.  But nothing worthwhile is easy.  And when you think about it, loving your husband and raising your children in love is the most profound contribution you can make to the world.

What is love?

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

1 Corinthians 13

How Does Love Look in Our Life?

  • Love is deeds not sweet words
  • Love is sacrifice
  • Love is forgiving 70 x 7 times – infinitely even when you don’t want to or believe you need to
  • Love is giving him the benefit of the doubt and not attaching extra meaning to every action or thought he has
  • Love is staying when you want to leave…
  • Love is getting up in the middle of the night to nurse that baby
  • And when they’re older love is teaching them to sleep through the night even if that means letting them cry
  • Love is remembering these babies look to us to teach them to be patient, kind etc…
  • Love is praying
  • Love is our life’s work

We will be Judged on How we Love

Jesus said, “Love as I have loved you”

When we embrace the crosses of our day and of our relationships without complaining, we love

Carrying our cross until the day we die and modeling Our Lady who stood at that foot of the cross – stood strong for love of her son – is love.

When you feel like you want to give up in your marriage or when you’ve had enough of the kids, embrace that cross, stand strong, and know that like the resurrection – joy – will come from that cross.

Be Strong in Your Femininity

Like the women in the gospels who stayed near the tomb, be there in your life to experience the joy.

Don’t give up.

Don’t run away.

Be strong, committed, patient and hopeful.

13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

1 Corinthians 13
